Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Job Summary:

NOW OFFERING A $4,000 SIGN ON BONUS

Hours:   Full time, Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

Our Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) team is looking for a master’s level mental health clinician to support our clinical staff in providing harm reduction-oriented, trauma-informed care for patients with opioid use disorder. You must be bilingual in Spanish and English and have clinical experience working with Spanish and English speakers from the Caribbean and Latinx diaspora in the continental United States. You’ll work as an autonomous clinician while collaborating within a supportive multi-disciplinary team. Your day to day will include conducting intake evaluations and providing ongoing assessments, recommendations, and treatment planning, as well as harm reduction strategies and psychoeducation utilizing trauma-informed, evidence-based therapies from a culturally humble, strengths-based approach to patients with opioid use disorders.  You’ll share your expertise with team members regarding each individual’s treatment plan. You’ll support outreach efforts and facilitate/co-facilitate recovery and support groups in a range of settings.

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct initial behavioral health evaluations, as well as ongoing group and/or individual therapy as part of the care plan patients receiving buprenorphine

  • Demonstrate leadership by problem-solving with primary care staff on behavioral health concerns and/or in addressing psychiatric emergencies

  • Share recommendations regarding post-traumatic stress disorder and trauma-informed care with the goal of increasing patient access to care and improving patient retention

  • Make referrals to outside addiction treatment programs or other community services as needed

  • Provide ongoing education and support to patients receiving medications for addiction treatment

  • Provide follow up treatment utilizing both in-person and remote care

  • Provide documentation for grants, projects, etc. as directed by supervisor

  • Participate in street and shelter outreach efforts with other team members in shelters and community settings

    Qualifications:

  • LICSW preferred; LCSW and LMHCs will also be considered

  • Must be licensed or must obtain license within 18 months (for LCSW) or 42 months (for LMHC) if hire date.

  • Must be willing to become CANS certified.

  • Experience providing clinical care in Spanish; additional compensation for demonstrated verbal proficiency in Spanish and English

  • Clinical experience and interest in treating people with trauma-related disorders, particularly in clients presenting with complex trauma

  • Knowledge of community and health resources, with a particular focus on resources and supports for individuals in recovery

  • Experience treating patients with complex medical and social needs such as dual or multiple mental health disorders in conjunction with a diagnosis of substance use disorder

  • Experience treating people experiencing substance use disorders and/or homelessness preferred

  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Life support training certification (e.g. CPR, BLS, ACLS) from a course that includes a hands-on, in-person component. If not certified prior to the start date, applicant must submit certification within 60 days of the start date   

    Compensation and Benefits

  • The compensation range starts at $60,000.00 annually and increases based on years of experience.

  • BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of 4 weeks’ vacation, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount. In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases, additional annual compensation of seven thousand five hundred for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and the opportunity to work with local hospitals and community health centers.
