The Role at a Glance

As the AVP Product and Platform Risk Management, you will provide leadership, direction, and functional expertise to ensure Risk program results related to product and platform risk. #LI-REMOTE

What you'll be doing

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.

  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives.

  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit.

  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/project.

  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.

  • Directs, establishes, and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure departmental results.

  • Directs and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards.

  • Provides strategic leadership and direction to continually improve the capability.

  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained.

  • Builds organizational capability within their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Establishes and directs the strategy for the analysis, identification, and measurement of operational risk.

  • Identifies, evaluates, and develops strategic proactive operational risk mitigation strategies to adhere to any new or proposed regulatory changes.

  • Directs, establishes, and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure group results for the operational risk area.

  • Directs and/or strategically develops systems to control and monitor assets in term of operational risk.

  • Directs and/or develops operational risk strategy.

  • Directs the evaluation of alternative means of reducing the organization's exposure to loss.

  • Develops strategic operational risk management plans.

  • Develops strategic operational risk mitigation plans.

  • Employs industry standard risk management frameworks and applies them to area of coverage.

  • Provide expertise and consultation for assigned area(s) of responsibility and in partnership with other internal and external business partners and leaders.

  • Manage ongoing projects/initiatives that support a proactive product and platform risk orientation.

  • Implement and perform targeted risk reviews and analysis of Product and Platform that ascertain effectiveness of product and platform functions.

  • Develop product risk oversight parameters and programs specific to product and platform functions.

  • Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as required.

What we’re looking for

Must-haves:

  • 10+ Years of progressively increasing responsibility in the financial services industry within a broker dealer, investment advisor, or similar organization, analyzing and working with investment products or 14+ years of equivalent work experience.

  • 10+ Years of Experience in compliance or risk assessment.

  • 3 - 5+ Years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Upon Hire Certifications/Licensures: Series License-7, Series License-24, Series License-63, Series License-65

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)

  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.

  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed, and logical discussions/presentations.

  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate knowledgeably and credibly with senior management and internal constituents.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to think critically, analyze complex information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement processes improvements.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully hire, retain, develop, and coach staff via a culture of real-time performance feedback, with ability to build both technical and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
