Job Description:

ATHLETIC TRAINER

  • Provides delegated treatments to NEBH patients under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist, or a physical therapist assistant. Provides follow up of routine specific exercises.

  • Provides follow up of functional activities, flexibility and strength measurements under therapist guidance.

  • Provides patients with proper instruction and orientation to exercises and equipment to avoid injury.

  • Under therapist direction, documents patient performance on daily flow sheets in a timely manner which is legible and accurate.

  • Reports patient responses to treatment in a timely manner to the assigned therapist.

  • Promotes the patient’s active involvement in treatment through patient education and instruction of specific treatment procedures as directed by the primary therapist for reinforcement of program, prevention of further injury and to facilitate “ownership” of health attitude. Develops educational materials for distribution as directed.

  • Performs non-patient care related activities. Maintains an inventory of departmental supplies in quantity sufficient for daily operation. Assists with administrative duties such as answering telephone, managing schedules, entering data into the database, copying materials, and other office duties as needed. Performs log management of temperatures, safety checks and cleaning for selected equipment.

  • Facilitates clinic adherence to the Infection Control Policy which includes and is not limited to changing table linens, cleaning equipment and maintaining updated logs.

  • Utilizes time in a productive manner and able to effectively prioritize patient care and non-patient care responsibilities.

  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service education programs both inside and outside of this institution

  • Involved with Sports Performance Center programming. Participates in the creation and development of programs under the guidance of the Lead ATC and Medical Director. Implements programs within the clinic or community focused on sports performance, injury prevention or return to play which include evaluation, analysis, training and counseling. Participate in educational opportunities to clients within the clinic or community. Maintain accurate documentation of client’s participation in Sports Performance programs.
