Boston University ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, TRADEMARK LICENSING & SPONSORSHIPS, Auxiliary Services in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Auxiliary Services, the Assistant Director of Trademark Licensing & Sponsorships is integral to protect University marks on products, expand opportunities for trademark royalty revenue, ensure Trademark Licensing policies and procedures are followed, and support University sponsorship efforts. Oversee and manage the licensing approval process for the University. Maximize revenue generated for licensed products for domestic and international retail, marketing, student engagement, and special projects. Collaborate with Barnes & Noble/LidsU on Bookstore retail, Marketing & Communications and Athletics for faculty/staff and Club Sports orders, and Student Activities Office for student organization orders. Maintain active affiliation with the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), the Workers Rights Consortium (WRC), and Fair Labor Association (FLA). Develop and communicate information to campus community, alumni groups, and approved licensees regarding Trademark Licensing policies and procedures. Support University sponsorship efforts. Develop/maintain Trademark Licensing and Auxiliary Services websites.

Required Skills

  • Bachelors Degree in business related field with five to seven years of sports marketing/trademark licensing and or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Masters Degree preferred.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills, and financial acumen.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as WordPress and Microsoft Office 365.

  • Experience with logo design, website development, social media, and presentations.

  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Demonstrated success interacting with diverse individuals from both the University and community to ensure appropriate use of University marks.

  • Strong analytical skills to drive revenue and review/impact financial results.

  • Problem solver with the ability to think creatively and connect various sources to achieve desired results.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

  • Complete work with accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
