Join Takeda as an Antibody Discovery- In Vitro, Scientist where you will have:

  • A good knowledge base in the field of n vitro based antibody discovery and engineering, specifically using a yeast display platform, as demonstrated by several years of hands-on technical know-how for multiple targets.

  • Specific knowledge and experience include excellent grasp of antibody library design, library construction, thoughtful and well executed population selection campaigns and appropriate screening towards therapeutic discovery.

  • Hands on experience of antibody optimization and engineering including affinity, potency and developability enhancement.

  • A good understanding of basic biologic formats of antibodies, including IgG, Fab and single domain antibodies ( in vitro and in vivo derived).

  • Experience with NGS based discovery to complement is a bonus.

You will also recognize, and streamline for the most efficient ways of working, which is highly prioritized, and have tremendous drive, motivation to deliver (and beat), team and program goals, while also pushing the boundaries to enhance discovery and optimization. Working with and networking excellently within the team is critical for best performance and team engagement. As part of the Biotherapeutic Engineering team, you will report to the Senior Director and work with the Global Biologics Organization and be part of a team of motivated and enthusiastic scientists in the Cambridge MA location, bringing strong experience in antibody/biologic discovery to the team.

How you will contribute:

  • Strategically devise and implement in vitro antibody discovery approaches utilizing hands-on laboratory techniques, including both naïve and immune repertoires in yeast display platform.

  • Undertake antibody library design, construction, and selection, coupled with high-throughput production methods.

  • Utilize FACS sorting methodologies appropriately mine repertoires, focusing on IgG and human single-domain library formats, with specific considerations such as epitope, cross-reactivity, affinity, and potency.

  • Employ NGS technologies to complement in vitro discovery efforts and expand repertoire.

  • Conduct sequence analysis utilizing software tools to deepen understanding and enhance campaign performance.

  • Execute various molecular biology techniques, encompassing DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, restriction enzyme digestions, and site-directed mutagenesis.

  • Cultivate, maintain, and transform yeast, mammalian, and/or bacterial cultures as required.

  • Demonstrate pro-activity through identifying areas to improve efficiency, perform technology development to bring innovation to the team, where appropriate.

  • Display exceptional organizational skills and self-motivation.

  • Independently carry out intricate experiments, utilizing display technologies to identify and advance novel biotherapeutic products across discovery and optimization phases.

  • Apply technical judgment in executing specialized procedures and interpreting results, initiating problem investigations, and proposing solutions.

  • Conduct calculations and basic analyses on experimental outcomes, formulating hypotheses as necessary.

  • Contribute to the design of well-defined experimental protocols.

  • Maintain oversight of routine laboratory instrumentation and supply management.

  • Track, compile, organize, and analyze data from cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational acumen to ensure meticulous tracking of ongoing and upcoming targets and projects.

  • Collaborate closely with discovery and program teams to formulate project strategies and synchronize efforts within the Global Biologics division.

  • Input and monitor data within designated data management systems, maintaining a comprehensive electronic notebook.

  • Operate efficiently within a fast-paced environment to meet program and team requirements.

  • Exhibit a proven track record of analytical prowess, laboratory proficiency, and adept problem-solving abilities.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline (or equivalent), or MS with 6+ years relevant experience, or BS with 8+ years relevant experience.

  • Must be comfortable with automation, data tracking/analysis, LIMS, and presentations in groups/teams.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$108,500.00 - $170,500.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
