Penn Foster Allied Health Adjunct - Home Health Aide (Independent Contractor) in Boston, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

The Allied Health Adjunct- Home Health Aide is responsible for providing instructional support to ensure students meet the established learning objectives and supporting the growth and development of the program to comply with industry standards and the needs of the community.

The adjunct will provide one-on-one instructional support to include responses to student’s inbound academic and technical inquiries using distance education technologies, including phone, email, SMS text messaging, one-on-one appointment scheduling, and portal messaging. The adjunct will provide substantive feedback on subjective exams (if applicable) and support students through the externship process. The adjunct will utilize program learning outcomes to monitor student progress and conduct outreach using distance education technologies to provide academic advising and support to ensure student learning and successful completion of the program. The adjunct will participate in curriculum design, including development and revision, and in the development of any supplemental learning resources on an as needed basis.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Review, evaluate, and suggest program curricula changes and practices to assure compliance with professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, clinical skills, requirements of business, industry, and higher education

  • Review state and federal guidelines to ensure program meets requirements

  • Provide technically accurate academic support across various crafts to online students via phone, chat, e-mail, discussion board post, text, appointment scheduler, live and recorded webinars, and exam evaluations/feedback

  • Review program and course-level outcomes data and surveys to determine students' needs; provide data-driven interventions/outreach as needed

  • Provide academic support and advising to students to include but not limited to using distance education technologies, appointment scheduler, live and recorded webinars, and feedback and evaluations on exams, assignments and externship skills

  • Participate in accreditation needs, including but not limited to DEAC

  • Perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Must be a registered nurse with at least two years of nursing experience with at least one year working in long-term care. Prior online teaching experience or supervising nurses’ aides preferred.

Other Requirements:

Must have excellent computer skills. Ability to work independently, think critically, communicate effectively and efficiently, and enjoy being part of a team.
