Guardian Life Agile Product Owner I - Group Benefits in Boston, Massachusetts

Position Summary

Guardian Life Insurance Company is actively seeking a passionate, driven, and self-motivated individual to join its Underwriting Process & Technology team. The ideal candidate is someone with a strategic, innovative background, who has previous knowledge in the Agile values, principles, and mindset. Rating, Quoting, and/or Underwriting job experience a plus.

You will:

  • Identify, communicate, and decompose business requirements into small, estimated, functional, vertical user stories that fit within a single iteration.

  • Define functional and non-functional requirements in the form of acceptance criteria.

  • Prioritize and sequence stories to maximize business value delivered while maintaining a sustainable pace for the team.

  • Accept user stories as done throughout the iteration with multiple define-build-test cycles.

  • Work with Product Management Team to ensure vision, goals, and objectives are established and achieved.

  • Participate in team and Agile Release Train (ART) Agile Ceremonies.

  • Apply an Agile mindset and behavior to effectively collaborate with the Agile Release Train (ART), team and stakeholder(s).

  • Leverage Agile estimation, forecasting and economic prioritization (WSJF) tools.

  • Make critical decisions regarding functionality and priority for the team with a focus on delivering value.

You are:

  • A self-starter who seeks to understand customer needs, business demands, and aligns their capacity and skills to implement the best solutions.

  • Determined to find the best approach to the work, identifying the highest value techniques to achieve business objectives.

  • Focused on developing and maintaining relationships with all key stakeholders to gather information, understand interests, and enhance personal and departmental productivity.

You Have:

  • Extensive knowledge of Agile Values, Principles, and mindset with at least 2 years' experience acting in a Product Owner or Product Manager role.

  • Certified in Scaled Agile - SAFe® Product Owner (PO/PM).

  • Strong technical acumen and system thinking.

  • Proficiency using Confluence, JIRA, Clarity, and Jira Align.

  • Consumer centric focus with experience managing user experience components.

  • An ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple and logical manner.

  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

  • Experience serving in an analytical role such as business or system analysis.

  • Self-driven with strong project management and organizational skills.

Location:

  • Preferred locations include Guardian's hub offices in Bethlehem, PA; Boston, MA; and New York, NY. Will also consider qualified applicants in other U.S. locations.

  • Work arrangement will be hybrid (two days per week in office; three days per week working from home).

Travel:

  • Minimal travel with this position (possibly two or three times per year).

Salary Range

$66,130.00 - $108,640.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
