Lilly Advisor - In Vivo Pharmacology in Boston, Massachusetts

Position Summary

The in vivo pharmacology Advisor will participate in and contribute to the Genetic Therapy, Editing, and Nanomedicine in vivo pharmacology lab, to lead efforts to support the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for genetic medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute in vivo pharmacology experiments to characterize activity, distribution, and clearance of genetic medicines in rodent models, including immunocompromised animals

  • Establish and manage Animal Care and Use Protocols in accordance with IACUC guidelines

  • Coordinate personnel, animals, and material for the execution of in vivo experiments across multiple groups and disciplines, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of deliverables

  • Actively mentor and develop in vivo lab associates

  • Oversee data analysis, result interpretation, and communication to internal stakeholders and ensure accurate recordkeeping

  • Prioritize projects and allocate workload accordingly to ensure appropriate resourcing to meet personnel and project needs

  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure translation from discovery to development and to drive innovation

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in life sciences (e.g., neuroscience, biology, or related discipline)

  • 1+ years of relevant in vivo work experience in an academic or industry setting; industry experience is preferred).

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Expert in vivo skills including rodent handling, dosing (IV, SC, IP, PO, ICV, ICM, IT, etc.), and collecting tissues / fluids

  • Working knowledge in molecular biology endpoints, such as ELISAs, WB, and qPCR

  • Strong attention to detail, with sufficient agility to link day-to-day experiments with strategic plans

  • Passion, knowledge, and experience in neuroscience, cardiometabolic, or rare disease research

  • Candidates with experience doing microdissection, micro-surgery, or stereotaxic surgery are strongly preferred

  • Prior experience in AAV and / or non-viral nanocarrier

  • Strong analytic thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate issues and extract and synthesize complex issues into key focus

  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills. Proven record to collaborate and network across a wide variety of functions and work effectively with internal and external partners

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, maintain detailed documentation, and prioritize work on multiple projects

  • Knowledge of GDP and experience with LIMS
