Boston University ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR, College of Arts & Sciences, Modern Language & Comparative Literature in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Reporting to the Department Chair and Department Administrator, the Administrative Coordinator is responsible for course scheduling and other registrar-facing functions as well as student services within the Department.

Core responsibilities include academic administration for language and literature courses in 10 languages; developing and maintaining systems and data related to enrollment, evaluation and assessment.

  • Responsible for course scheduling in UIS and other registrar-related tasks; assists faculty with classroom change requests. (Training provided)

  • First point of contact for student advising, referring students to appropriate resources; assigns faculty advisors to each major/minor and distributes advising lists and codes to faculty; processes grade changes.

  • Administers the student-evaluation process.

  • Maintains departmental website.

  • Coordinates commencement activities including student honors and prizes.

  • Prints and distributes program brochures and course flyers.

  • Responds to queries regarding building and office maintenance.

  • Provides administrative support to Department Chair and Administrator; other tasks as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 1-3 years of related experience required

  • MS Office proficiency

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills including customer service experience.

  • Outstanding time management and organization skills, attention to detail

  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately the ability to work independently and as part of a team exercising initiative and judgment

  • The ability to create positive relationships and work with colleagues, faculty, and students from diverse backgrounds.
