Job Summary:

The Fuel Operations Project Manager is responsible for managing all retail propane operations and projects to support our retail fuel business. This position is required to review equipment, maintenance spend, and analytics to develop long term capital upgrade plans for propane and retail gas stations.

The Fuel Operations Project Manager will review capital budgets and work with their supervisor to ensure capital & expense dollars are spent appropriately. This position will manage upgrade projects such as tank top upgrades, fuel dispenser replacement, propane tank replacement and equipment upgrades. Team members will work with a sense of urgency and ensure all projects are completed on time, on budget and in accordance with all applicable regulations.

This role will participate in an after-hours on-call queue designed to address urgent issues from clubs. Team members in this role will work collaboratively with other Team Members, Leadership, Vendors, Information Technology, and solution providers as needed to support the business.

This position requires the combination of leadership, technical skills, business acumen and the ability to influence actions based on data gathered from multiple resources. The individual for this role must operate with a sense of urgency, possess strong critical thinking skills, have excellent problem-solving capability, and have strong interpersonal skills to partner with various internal and external stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage retail fuel upgrades. This includes but is not limited to tank replacement, tank top upgrades and dispenser upgrades. Ensure all upgrades are completed on-time and on-budget. Work with internal partners including Property Development, IT as well as external parties. Ensure that all upgraded locations are completed in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Responsible for all propane operations and manage capital upgrades for existing facilities to ensure all locations are in compliance with regulations.

  • Evaluate areas of opportunity and provide recommendations to improve the business. Conduct analysis of maintenance spending to identify areas of opportunity for future upgrades. Maintain a rolling 5-year capital upgrade plan.

  • Contribute to process improvement and assist in various department projects as needed to meet company objectives.

    Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science, Construction Management, Petroleum Engineering, Business or related field (or related experience).

  • 5+ years of related work experience managing gas station or propane repairs, installations or managing projects.

  • 10 + years' experience in retail operations & project management preferred

  • Outstanding written and oral communication

  • Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Proven interpersonal, project management and customer relations skills.

  • Strong knowledge of gas station and/or propane operations and respective processes preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of programs similar to Tableau, Ariba, and Verisae to monitor maintenance spend preferred.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $98,500.00.
