A day in the Life:

Medtronic is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Manager to lead and oversee manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex manufacturing processes, driving operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards within the medical device industry.

This role will lead a team of roughly six supervisors overseeing over three hundred and fifty direct labor employees across 3+ shifts and two sites (10-minute drive). A typical day will include coaching and teaching supervisors and manufacturing support team members, attending tier meetings, driving project improvements, improving quality and output, collaborating with functions on-site and off-site (including a critical supplier in China), and spending time on the floor with your team. This role is in a highly visible ramp-up environment where we aim to 10x our current volumes. Knowledge of GMP, ability to prioritize and execute, and a proven track record of leadership are highly desirable. In addition, this role will have high leadership visibility and the candidate will need to manage-up well and present well to senior leaders in the company.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Strategy: Provide strategic leadership and direction to the manufacturing team, aligning operations with company objectives and driving a culture of excellence and innovation.

  2. Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, process optimization, and resource management, to ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of high-quality medical devices.

  3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:Establish and maintain robust quality management systems, ensuring compliance with FDA regulations, ISO standards, and other regulatory requirements, while driving a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

  4. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and R&D, to ensure alignment and integration of manufacturing activities with overall business goals and objectives.

  5. Continuous Improvement: Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  6. Supplier Management: Manage relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality materials and components to support production needs while driving cost optimization and supplier performance improvement initiatives.

  7. Risk Management:Identify, assess, and mitigate risks within manufacturing operations, implementing proactive measures to minimize operational disruptions and ensure business continuity.

  8. Talent Development: Mentor, coach, and develop manufacturing team members, fostering a culture of learning, growth, and accountability, and building a high-performing team capable of achieving operational excellence.

  9. Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards, implementing and enforcing best practices to maintain a safe and sustainable working environment.

  10. Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage manufacturing budgets, effectively allocating resources to meet production targets, optimize costs, and drive operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with financial objectives.

Must Have, Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have:

  • Proven track record of success in leading complex manufacturing operations.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO, etc.), with experience in implementing and maintaining quality management systems.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve high performance and drive continuous improvement.

  • Experience in implementing and driving continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) to optimize processes and enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies.

  • Experience in a rapid volume growth manufacturing environment.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
