A day in the Life:

Medtronic is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Manager to oversee manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing manufacturing processes, ensuring quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within a regulated industry.

This posting serves as an opening for two positions: one in Catheter manufacturing and one in Capital System manufacturing, both at the same site in Billerica, MA. The Catheter Manufacturing Manager will lead a team of roughly five supervisors overseeing over two hundred direct labor employees across 3+ shifts; and the Capital Systems Manager will lead a team of two supervisors overseeing sixty direct-labor employees on two shifts, as well as the Catheter and Capital Packaging teams across two shifts. For both positions, a typical day will include coaching and teaching supervisors and manufacturing support team members, attending tier meetings, driving project improvements, improving quality and output, collaborating with functions on-site and off-site, and spending time on the floor with your team. These roles are in a highly visible ramp-up environment where we aim to 10x our current volumes. Knowledge of GMP, ability to prioritize and execute, and a proven track record of leadership are highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing team, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.

  2. Process Optimization: Continuously improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase output while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

  3. Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure products meet or exceed regulatory requirements and quality standards.

  4. Resource Management: Manage resources effectively, including equipment, materials, and personnel, to meet production schedules and customer demands.

  5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including FDA regulations, ISO standards, and Medtronic's internal quality management systems.

  6. Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials and components, fostering strong relationships to support production needs.

  7. Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, to drive operational excellence and enhance competitiveness.

  8. Safety:Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, implementing and enforcing safety protocols and best practices.

  9. Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for manufacturing staff to enhance skills and capabilities, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

  10. Communication: Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and management, to ensure alignment and collaboration.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Nice to have:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO, etc.).

  • Proven track record of leadership and team management, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) to drive operational excellence.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies.

  • Experience in a rapid volume growth manufacturing environment.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
