A successful Corporate Tax Staff Accountant requires a basic knowledge of tax and accounting, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prepare deliverables within deadlines. This role is primarily responsible for day-to-day state and local tax work, compiling and analyzing information in excel and special projects. This role is managed by the Senior Tax Manager and is a part of the Corporate Accounting team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Key Functions:

  • Assist with preparation of state and local income tax workpapers, sales & use tax analysis (where applicable), property tax payments and assessment review, as well as other miscellaneous tax items

  • Assist with maintaining and enhancing state and local tax processes

  • Assist with state and local tax audits

  • Assist with maintaining exemption certificates

  • Assist with tax research and analyses

  • Assist with maintaining of tax calendar and tracking of tax inquiries

  • Assist with reconciliation and roll forward of financial statement tax accounts such as the accruals for real estate, GST, and income tax

  • Compiling data for tax submissions to various taxing authorities

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls

  • Build strong relationships with internal customers to become a trusted business partner

  • Other duties or tasks as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience in state corporate taxation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Not-for-profit experience

  • Government Contracting experience

  • Experience with Costpoint
