LogixHealth Senior Billing Specialist, Specialty Billing in Bedford, Massachusetts

    Purpose

    Process all denied and unpaid claims submitted to insurance carriers to ensure payments are received and provide oversight to internal team leads and billing specialists doing similar work.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review all denials on an explanation of benefits (EOB) and work on issues/errors until resolved

  • Review A/R reports to follow up on any unpaid claims

  • Submit required appeals when needed

  • Submit any required documentation to insurance companies as requested

  • Review claims for accuracy to ensure it is processed in a timely manner

  • Communicate with insurance companies, adjustors and attorneys on a regular basis

  • Correct any errors and resubmit all unprocessed or returned claims to insurance companies

  • Enter new information into billing software to create HCFA bills

  • Assist the Billing staff in resolving issues and answering their questions

  • Forward issues to appropriate Account Manager & Billing Manager when necessary

  • Process write off requests according to the set guidelines

  • Assist the team lead staff in any backlog of work or issues

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and be familiar with all compliance policies and procedures stored in Logix Garden relevant to this position

    Education (Degrees, Certificates, Licenses, Etc.)

    High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Computer Skills

    Experience

    One to two years related billing experience preferred; Previous Billing Specialist experience highly desired. Prior word processing, spreadsheet and internet software experience including proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word required.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customer or fellow employees

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, use hands, talk, hear and occasionally walk and reach with hands or arms
