The Edinburg Center Psychiatric Medical Assistant in Bedford, Massachusetts

PSYCHIATRIC MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Who You Are:

High School diploma or GED required. MAP certification required or ability to become certified after hire. Minimum of one year experience in the mental health field required. Valid driver’s license required. Medical Assistant Certification or LPN license preferred.

What You Will Do:

  • Interview participants to obtain medical information.

  • Complete brief medical and health assessments with participants.

  • Reconcile medications and vaccines with participants and other medical personnel, including primary care providers and visiting nurses.

  • Work participant registries via Electronic Health Record, Excel, New Clozapine REMS website, or other databases, as needed.

  • Monitor databases to identify and reach out to those needing services.

  • Contact participants who are overdue for medical care or out of compliance with the goals of their care.

  • Act as liaison to medical providers, including visiting nurses and pharmacies.

  • Triage prescriber messages.

  • Assist with obtaining insurance authorizations.

  • Collaborate with a range of multidisciplinary team members to meet the needs of participants.

  • Schedule and review lab results and enter results into the electronic health record.

  • Assist with Medication Administration Program (MAP) training and proctor MAP testing sessions.

  • Collaborate with a range of multidisciplinary team members to meet the needs of participants.

  • Other responsibilities as needed and may include:

  • Administer injections of psychotropic medications.

  • Provide education about medications to participants.
