Homology Medicines, Inc. Manager, SEC Reporting in Bedford, Massachusetts

Homology Medicines, Inc. is seeking a Manager, SEC Reporting for our Finance and Accounting team. The Manager, SEC Reporting will be responsible for all aspects of the external financial reporting process, including the preparation and submission of all SEC filings. This key team member will also assist with the implementation of technical accounting pronouncements and partner on SOX compliance. The Manager, SEC Reporting will have significant responsibility to drive success of Finance and Accounting goals and activities, with the unique opportunity to support the development and application our technology platform in a clinical setting, to transform the lives of patients.

  • Coordinate quarterly and annual SEC filings including 10K and 10Q, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulations.

  • Coordinate the review of filings with external auditors, legal counsel, accounting staff and with executive management.

  • Participate in quarterly review and annual audit process, with our external auditors.

  • Partner with the Senior Director, Finance and Accounting, to ensure compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, including the maintenance of documentation, testing procedures and remediation activities.

  • Oversee proper accounting treatment of all transactions in accordance with GAAP.

  • Research accounting requirements and implications for special transactions.

  • Stay current with new accounting standards and SEC regulations; provide management with implications of new accounting developments and implementation plans.

  • Support proxy and statutory reporting.

  • Assess control over financial reporting and make necessary improvements to existing controls and develop new controls when appropriate.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent with 5+ years of Public accounting experience with public company clients – straight from public or mix of public/industry, required.

  • CPA preferred.

  • Big 4 experience strongly preferred.

  • Pharmaceutical or Life Science company experience strongly preferred.

  • Possess technical expertise related to GAAP and external reporting including SEC reporting, stock option accounting, revenue recognition, acquisitions, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

  • Demonstrated recent experience in researching and preparing technical accounting memorandums for complex issues and new pronouncements

  • Understanding of accounting processes, procedure, and internal controls.

  • Well organized with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, listening, and presentation skills.

  • Adapts quickly and learns new tasks independently, with a high level of enthusiasm to succeed by accommodating to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines in a nimble, dynamic, fast paced, and rapidly changing environment.
