Overview:

The Edinburg Center, a $43 million nonprofit community-based organization in Bedford, MA, is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated HR Specialist to join our dynamic team.

This position reports to the HR Director and offers a fantastic opportunity to grow in the HR field while supporting a variety of HR functions.

You will work on benefits and leaves of absence administration, recruiting and onboarding, workers compensation administration, payroll, compliance, and HR projects. You will work closely with the HR Director to ensure the HR department runs smoothly and that we foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

    Responsibilities:

· Benefits Administration: Assist employees with benefits and enrollment, answer questions, resolve issues, assist with Open Enrollment, and ensure compliance with benefit plans.

  • LOA Administration: Manage FMLA, PFML, and other leave programs; communicate with employees on leave as well as management, track time off, and ensure correct payment of paid time off.

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Join a team of talented Recruitment professionals to assist in the screening, selection and onboarding of newly hired employees.

  • Workers’ Compensation Administration: File claims in a timely manner, work with insurance adjusters, complete OSHA logs, communicate with employees and management regarding return to work.

  • Payroll Administration: Provide backup to current Payroll Manager and process payroll on a consistent basis to maintain skills and learn new payroll system.

  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with employment laws and labor regulations such as EEO-1, OSHA Form 300, 5500s, and E-Verify.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience in a Human Resources role

  • Strong technology skills, previous experience with an HRIS and payroll systems

  • 2+ years of experience in an HR role

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with HRIS systems. Familiarity with Teams is a plus

  • Must be able to travel to sites in Massachusetts (approximately an hour drive max) at least once a month to interact with staff and managers

    Physical Requirements:

The HR Specialist role is primarily a desk-based position requiring prolonged periods of computer use and phone communication. This role may involve occasional standing, walking, and minimal lifting (up to 25 lbs.) for office supplies or training materials. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is essential. Some travel between office locations may be required.
