Period of Work: May-August 2025

Full-Time: 40 hours a week

Locations: Bedford MA and McLean, VA

In Office Requirement: 5 days a week onsite

Clearance Requirement: Will be submitted for DHS Suitability

The Center for Securing the Homeland (CSH) at MITRE supports the Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute (HSSEDI) FFRDC and the NIST National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) by providing independent and objective expertise to enhance mission capabilities. CSH collaborates with federal agencies like DHS and NIST to deliver innovative solutions and develop frameworks that strengthen national security and cybersecurity infrastructure.

Job Responsbilitites:

• Engage in a project related to health security and supply chain management

• Conduct research, processing and analysis of collected information to derive insights and meaning

• Develop recommendations and identify risks based on analysis

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Biology, Chemistry, Health Sciences, Data Science, Data Analytics or Public Health and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship

• Sustained excellence in academic performace

  Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience having applied Health Security or Supply Chain Management to an internship or research/lab position

• Interest and/or familiar with food and agriculture supply chains and Public Health

• Experience in creating presentations (PowerPoint), writing informational pieces, and providing briefings

• Interest and/or experience in researching operational security procedures to improve preparedness

• Demonstrated analytical capabilities and familiarity with Data Analysis and Visualization tools

• Ability to positively engage with senior Government staff, technical peers, and MITRE team members.

• Strong writing and communication skills.

• Demonstrated interest in serving the public
