The Geospatial & Analytic Solutions Department (L174) is looking for qualified applicants for a Group Leader (GL) position. GLs are members of the department leadership team, primarily focused on growing and inspiring our people, fostering MITRE’s culture, and shaping and enabling the department strategy. GLs ensure that our people are constantly involved in work and learning opportunities that align with their career aspirations and development goals, and maximize their potential, motivation, and engagement. The GL will ideally have experience in either data analytics, geospatial sciences, or analytic technologies & tradecraft.
The Group Leader will:
Be a key contributor to one or more MITRE projects
Be the first-line supervisor and primary point of contact on HR and performance matters for the technical staff in their Group (8-10 direct reports)
Be a first-line technical leader focused on the rigor, quality, and timely delivery of products to internal and external customers by staff in their Group
Mentor and coach employees to maximize their potential in the near and long-term
Define and encourage shared goals and objectives across your group and across other groups
Work with each group member to develop goals that are measurable and have impact for MITRE and the sponsor
Help group members to work through and reflect upon difficult tasks and conflicts
Track and assess group member performance and provide feedback that assists them to become successful
Assist group members plan their professional development
Help shape department strategy as a member of the L174 Leadership Team
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Experience working collaboratively in a team environment
Experience in building and/or shaping work programs
Strong verbal and written communications skills and excellent interpersonal skills
Experience in either data analytics, geospatial sciences, or analytic technologies & tradecraft.
Experience in a lead technical role, including managing or mentoring junior staff
Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with MITRE colleagues across diverse departments, divisions, and management levels to develop and achieve outcomes set by staff members
