N132 and our portfolio partner, Nuclear Enterprise Portfolio, are seeking an Associate Project Lead (APL) for the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) Systems Engineering Project. The AFGSC SE project is a top priority project in the AF Nuclear Enterprise Portfolio. This 17.5 STE project focuses on defining how AFGSC will win the war in 2050 based on a modernization strategy via system-of-system engineering analysis and modeling. This entails providing thought leadership to implement a Digital Engineering (DE) capability for the baselining and modernization of the Command’s Service Core Functions, requirements analysis, mission assurance, and identifying system of systems risks and resultant mitigation strategies. The APL will also be responsible to assist the PL in all facets of leading the project team and managing the project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Associate Project Lead will assist the Project Lead with a wide range of responsibilities including:

  • Providing strategic and technical leadership as a trusted advisor to the Command

  • Work closely with the MITRE AF Nuclear Enterprise portfolio leaders to develop and work shape MITRE’s tasks aligned with AFGSC outcomes and coordinate with cross-cutting MITRE initiatives

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Projects 4 core tasks: Enterprise Mission Analysis, Enterprise Cybersecurity, AFNC3C Requirements analysis, and AFGSC/ST Digital Engineering

  • Work shaping – Support to PL in overall strategy, outcome, products; manage alignment of MIP/capstone/etc. to project efforts

  • Product quality control – run/conduct in-progress task/analysis reviews, peer reviews, TILs, product distribution, program execution reviews etc.

  • Customer interaction – AFGSC & AFNC3C senior leadership, division leadership, branch chiefs, individual Govt personnel

  • Project administration - Clarity, financials, project pages, meeting coordination, status reports, facility management

  • Staff management - On-boarding; handle/process requests for CAC, NIPR, SIPR, VR, SharePoint, ISIL, Secret labs, SCI, JWICS, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • M inimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Qualifications:

  • MS in Systems Engineering or related technical field and 6-10 years of related experience including 2 years of leadership experience

  • Demonstrated ability in technology, leadership, system development, enterprise/systems engineering and architecture development of sophisticated systems

  • Expertise in performing concept development, strategic planning, requirements development, market research, technology feasibility and evolution studies, and acquisition support

  • Exceptional communications, collaboration, organization, and leadership skills collaboration

  • Proven ability to develop a trusted advisor relationship with a DoD/government sponsor

  • Shown success in working across organizational boundaries to deliver results

  • Demonstrated management of technical tasks and large engineering teams

  • Experience building or using DE methods, conducting analysis, and providing recommendations to support planning and decision-making

  • Effective organizational skills and discipline to keep the project well-scoped and the team driven to accomplish specific project objectives

  • Possess and active Top Secret Clearance and have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain knowledge of Nuclear Enterprise and the Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Enterprise

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with capabilities trade analysis, mission analysis, information assurance, systems integration, and understanding of the relationships between operational, technical, and system’s architectures

  • Significant experience as a technical or program manager, experience supporting major acquisition programs

  • Demonstrated experience leading geographically separated teams with the diverse background and skills

  • Significant experience in key technology areas: Digital Engineering (MBSE, OTB), Mission Defense (Cyber, Safety, Surety), and systems engineering

  • Ability to quickly respond to changing program and political environment while keeping strategic focus intact

  • An active TS//SCI clearance is desirable
