Department Summary:

The MITRE Corporation’s Resilient Communications Department (N152) focuses on creating and fielding adaptive communications and networking infrastructure to successfully execute different mission areas for Operations in Contested Environments (OCE). Our work involves modernizing currently fielded communications systems while developing/fielding the next generation communications capabilities used by the United States military and international partners across all domains from underwater to aerial to space-based. Our primary areas of concentration include RF communications, networking, modeling and simulation, systems integration, systems engineering, and software development.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • You will work in a collaborative team environment using models and simulations to analyze communications and networking systems to provide data-driven technical recommendations. Example activities include:

  • Using scenario-based modeling with multiple users interacting in a contested environment

  • Modeling a communication waveform given limited technical specifications

  • Building a simulation to examine wireless multi-domain (aerial/space/ground) using different waveforms and protocols

  • You will develop new models, leverage existing models, and modify DoD simulations to conduct analyses

  • You will adhere to guidelines for modeling approaches, documentation, and best practices as established by the department

  • You will support a variety of projects depending on your skills, development goals, and sponsor needs to provide the United States Military and international partners the tools and capabilities necessary for mission success

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or similar field, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • You are eager to learn new skills and technologies

  • You have experience with software development and are familiar with basic modeling and simulation concepts

  • You have experience with one or more modeling and simulation tools such as: MATLAB, Systems Tool Kit (STK), AFSIM, R, GNU Octave, etc.

  • You have interpersonal skills to effectively work in multi-disciplinary teams across organizations

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to possess/maintain a DoD Secret clearance

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with RF communications, networking concepts, and emerging technologies

  • Experience with software development using Python, C/C++, Git, etc.
