Sensata Technologies, Inc. Integration Engineer, Smart & Connected in Attleboro, Massachusetts

The office of the CTO at Sensata technologies has created a megatrend-focused organization to capitalize on growth opportunities presented by Electrification, Autonomy, Connected and Sharing. A key Incubation project we are focusing on is the Smart and Connected (S&C) business.

While demand for a vehicle area network (enabled by the wireless Hub) and a portfolio of wireless sensors is increasing across the commercial truck and trailer market, our day-to-day activity in the start-up venture is becoming increasingly more complex. Just as our customer and partner engagements are growing, our development scope and product portfolio is also broadening so we need experienced engineers added to our team to develop and implement a scalable manufacturing model.

The candidate for this role will be based out of our Attleboro office to work with external customers and internal product development teams as a technical resource for the installation of Sensata systems on customer commercial vehicle fleets.

General Responsibilities

  • Utilizes advanced knowledge of engineering principles & practices in the design, development, analysis and release of products throughout the product life cycle

  • Present in regular meetings with customers to provide an emphasis on technical problem solving. Supports existing customers on new product development projects under development

  • Communicate business and technical information between the customer and Sensata

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth technical understanding of Sensata’s products and competitor product offerings

  • Leads design review sessions, both customer and internal, as required; this includes conducting drawing and specification reviews with customers

  • Leads failure analysis examinations and prepare failure analysis reports of findings

  • Ensure projects meet customer requirements and quality standards

  • Perform engineering analyses. Review product specifications and utilize computer aided engineering applications to apply conditions, replicate performance, and evaluate the manufacturability of products

  • Help develop and refine 'standard' product configurations that capitalize on the company's strengths and products. Provide onsite technical assistance to the sales team at industry trade shows and customer demonstrations

  • Negotiate technical specifications

  • Respond to requests for proposals and assist in the preparation of quotations for standard and custom products

  • Establish and maintain customer engineering relations

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

The Integration Engineer will be responsible for supporting customers in the resolution of advanced technical issues in the field. Additional responsibilities include supporting third party installers with detailed requirements and technical background for the installation of systems during training at Sensata or customer sites. The engineer in this position will also support the development, validation, and launch of new components as part of the configuration roadmap. They may also be called on to support the sales staff in evaluating the feasibility of customer-requested configuration options.

  • Prepared to travel domestically 50%, with periods of up to 75%, along with occasional international travel (primarily North America and Europe)

  • Expertise with CAN, GPS, Telematics communication protocols; troubleshooting experience a plus

  • Familiarity with New Product Development process a plus
