ARLINGTON RECREATION EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES SUMMER 2024 The Town of Arlington Recreation Department is now accepting applications for seasonal employment during the summer of 2023. The number of available positions will be based off program needs and are subject to change at any time. Available positions may be limited due to returning employees being rehired. New applications will be accepted until February 1st and then on an as needed bases. Seasonal employment opportunities open for the summer of 2024 are outlined below. LIFEGUARDS/WATER SAFTEY INSTRUCTORS (WSI) Work is available as Reservoir Beach. Lifeguards help ensure the safety of swimmers and perform general maintenance duties. WSIs, in addition to the previously stated responsibilities, also help perform swim testing. Applicants must possess a current Lifeguard Certification, First Aid Certification, and CPR Certification. Certification in Water Safety Instruction is a plus. Hours will vary between 20-40 per week during the hours of 9:30am-7:30pm, which includes early evenings and weekends. Individuals are expected to be available and commit to employment for the entire beach season (mid June through late August). Starting rate is \$16.45 ? 19.64 per hour for Lifeguards and \$17.95-21.43 per hour for WSIs. MAINTENANCE/CONCESSION/GATE WORKER Work is available at the Ed Burns Arena/Reservoir Beach to assist with general maintenance duties, the concession stand services, and gate attendance. Hours will vary between 10-25 per week and will include early evenings and weekends. Individuals must be able to lift 50 pounds and are expected to be available & commit to employment for the entire beach season (mid June through late August). Starting rate is \$15.45 per hour. PROGRAM SUPERVISOR Program Supervisors are responsible for helping with the overall operation and success of programs. This individual will direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of program staff in the recreation programs. Responsibilities include providing direction and instruction to staff, training them in the instruction of activities/duties, and communicating daily with members of the public/participants/parents. Individuals are expected to be available and commit to employment for the entire summer season (mid June through late August). Must be available to attended/help organize staff training in early June prior to summer season. Starting rate is \$19.95 per hour. Must be 18 years of age or older. PROGRAM COUNSELOR Program Counselors take primary responsibility for the health, well-being, and happiness of participants. Counselors guide individuals in participating successfully in all aspects of program activities. They observe participant behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations/emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Counselors help plan and coordinate activities for children. Individuals are expected to be available and commit to employment for the entire summer season (mid June through late August). Individuals must also be available to attended required staff training in early June, prior to summer season. Starting rate at \$15.45 per hour. Must be 16 years of age or older. PROGRAM SPECIALIST Program Specialists work with program counselors to engage participants in unique and challenging activities on a daily basis. Program Specialists are hired to oversee a specific focus area in the Club Rec program only. Areas of focus include Arts & Crafts, Sports & Games, Music & Drama, & STEM. Applicants should note specific subject area interested in and also should have previous experience/knowledge in this subject matter. Specialists are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities for the enti e program.
