Mercury Systems Sr Dir, Mechanical Engineering in Andover, Massachusetts

Job Summary: The Senior Director of Mechanical Engineering will lead and oversee a matrix organization comprising multiple engineering teams across various geographic locations. This role is crucial for driving innovation, ensuring the highest engineering standards, and maintaining seamless integration of mechanical engineering functions within the aerospace and defense sector. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in mechanical engineering, proven leadership skills in a matrix organization, and a deep understanding of the aerospace and defense industry's unique challenges and requirements. Job Responsibility * Provide strategic direction and leadership to the mechanical engineering teams across multiple sites. * Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the engineering organization. * Develop, implement, and standardize engineering best practices, standards, and processes across the entire mechanical engineering organization. * Coordinate cross-functional development processes and standards to ensure alignment for project execution teams by partnering with peer level functional leaders. * Deploy a staffing and training strategy to ensure the Mechanical Engineering staff skills are aligned to the needs of the business. Proactively manage staff size to ensure alignment to business growth plans. * Responsible for enabling the mechanical engineering organization to drive strategic technological advancements and integrate cutting-edge solutions into engineering practices. * Collaborate with senior leadership, mechanical engineering leadership, and other engineering functional leaders to align engineering efforts with business objectives and customer needs. * Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. * Generate and maintain performance metrics to Support accurate and reliable Bid and Proposal efforts. Responsible for approving and achieving functional performance against bids. * Maintain a strong focus on safety, reliability, and performance in all engineering deliverables. * Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering career growth and enhancing team capabilities. * Implement training programs to keep the team updated on the latest technologies and industry trends. Required Qualifications: * BS or MS in relevant field (Mechanical (or related) Engineering, Engineering Management, MBA) * 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role. * 5+ years in a leadership role managing multiple teams, including other managers * Experience mentoring junior engineers and managers * Coaching and developing leaders "This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance.
