Work can be performed from ANY location via telecommuting, with occasional travel to Tucson, Arizona and/or Andover, MA Job Summary: The Software Development Lead Lead is responsible for designing and developing solutions which assist our business and factories to perform at the highest level. The primary platform used for development will be Ignition from Inductive Automation. This individual is expected to be involved in helping to shape discussions around strategy as well as execution. They will act as the technical lead for the application development team reporting to the section manager and will be expected to effectively interact with internal customers as well as leadership. The Software Development Lead will also be responsible for training and increasing the knowledge and experience of more junior programmers, performing code reviews, and helping to develop best practices. The individual selected for this role would ideally be comfortable working in groups or independently as well both giving and receiving direction. This position can be a Sr. Software Development Lead I (P3) or Principal Software Development Lead (P4) based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position. Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Driving innovation across the enterprise through factory automation, process automation, and data analytics

  • Provide technical leadership in defining/execution of long-term I4.0 strategy

  • Identify technology and methodologies that are part of industry best practice in order to solve complex technical challenges

  • Challenge legacy thinking and drive change

  • Act as a data and database subject matter expert

  • Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing user interfaces

  • Develop world class solutions that help deliver quality products on-time, at or below cost in a safe environment

    An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Typically requires 5 years relevant experience for a P3 (Software Development Lead I) or typically requires 3 years relevant experience with related advanced STEM degree

  • Typically requires 8 years relevant experience for a P4 (Software Development Lead II) or typically requires 5 years relevant experience with related advanced STEM Degree

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Qualifications We Value:

  • Previous experience working in a commercial/industrial engineering or manufacturing environment

  • Experience developing in at least one of the following: Ignition, Python, Java Script, SQL, Oracle, C#, C+

    • Previous experience in development of applications for improved business execution, manufacturing efficiency, or data visualization
  • Previous experience in leading projects and / or project teams through the project lifecycle

  • Experience and/or desire to coach/mentor Jr. Developers in best practices and knowledge sharing

  • Experience / Understanding project management methodologies such as Agile and/or Scrum

  • Previous experience in Database development and associated tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Integrated Services (SSIS) as well as more advanced techniques for merging data and query design
