AMHERST PLEASE SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary: The Van Driver is responsible for providing rides to older adults aged sixty and older and disabled persons. The Van Driver will receive a daily schedule with rides booked by seniors. The Van Driver must be able to adapt to demand response requests for same day ride bookings, when possible. Schedule is Tuesdays 8:00am-4:00pm, Wednesdays 8:30am-1:00pm, and Thursdays 8:30am-3:00pm. Major Duties: Safely operate a paratransit 8-passenger van taking clients to medical appointments, shopping, and other destinations. Attend required training on safety driving, wheelchair securement, alcohol & drug awareness and CPR. Follow a daily van dispatching schedule from demand response phone calls received including calling patrons as needed. Provide transportation for special trips to grocery shopping, lunches, picnics, and other destinations. Helps to maintain the Senior Center record keeping system called MySeniorCenter. Keep accurate electronic records of rides given to clients and demographic information collected, must meet all reporting requirements timely. Communicate effectively with Senior Center Director and staff regarding transportation needs and issues. Complete and record daily inspection of van operational functions: wipers, horn, tires, wheel chair lift etc. Minimum Qualifications: Driver must be able to drive an eight-passenger paratransit van, interact well with others, and be patient and dependable. Must be able to pass a CORl and SORI check and, motor vehicle driver record check. Must have a valid driver\'s license. Tools and Equipment Used: Eight passenger paratransit van which includes two wheelchair seats and a lift.
