AMHERST SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL JOB DESCRIPTION Move & Furniture Project Manager Job Summary The Move and Furniture Project Manager (M&F PM) manages the movement of personnel, furniture, and equipment on the main campus and all communication for individuals and departments being relocated. The M&F PM analyzes and maintains furniture inventory and tracks warranty information on all non-resident hall furniture. The M&F PM is part of a cohesive team, executes complex tasks independently, and communicates tactfully with both professional and non-professional staff, researchers, instructors, and students. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor?s Degree with more than 3 years\' experience in construction, facilities management or customer service OR an Associate\'s Degree with more than 5 years\' experience in construction, facilities management, or customer service. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and ability to maintain relationships with customers. Must have the ability to foster and maintain harmonious relationships with others. Advanced project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and budgets at once with minimal supervision. Strong analytical and reasoning skills. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat. Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, electronic floor plan drawings. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instruction and to organize work efforts. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor?s Degree in business management, engineering, construction management, or marketing. Knowledge of the methods used in planning, estimating, and scheduling work. Working knowledge of IMB TMA, InVision, and Autodesk CAD applications Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in higher education. Essential Functions Manages moving projects, both large and small, including project scope, cost estimates, budgeting, scheduling, coordination, communications, customer expectations, and follow-up after completion. Develops cost estimates for moves associated with large university Capital Projects. Manages projects to prepare temporary spaces that allow the movement of personnel, which facilitates efficient completion of Capital Projects. Produces feasibility studies, including preparing program information, coordinating work of interdepartmental groups, and working with all levels of the University. Manages department and individual staffing moves on campus for research, academic, and public spaces. This includes updating current and desired floor plans; determining furniture needed; placing phone and computer ports; moving sensitive lab equipment; purging old furniture and equipment; and managing key assignments. Exercises independent judgement and authority in scheduling requests for services and determining billable and non-billable work related to moves. Assists in reviewing planning and contract documents prepared by outside consultants to ensure compatibility with University standards and requirements. Creates planning and design graphics and reports to communicate complex ideas and concepts to the campus community. Works closely with Campus Planning, Design & Construction Management, Information Technology, Physical Plant as well as the requesting departments to facilitate move and available resources. Updates personnel and departments being moved on project progress, deadlines, and any necessary decisions that need to be made. Tracks move expenses ensuring they are completed on time and on budget.
