OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for a CNC Department Lead who is responsible for leadership, direction, and motivation of assigned employees to achieve company goals of quality, production, safety, and continuous improvement. Responsible for one area, department, or location.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and executes plans to meet or exceed department and company goals of quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. Manages department performance measures and visual controls. Focuses on daily operations

  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to continuously improve in all areas. Present ideas for improvement and information accurately and clearly in both oral and written form

  • Oversees CNC department staff to verify “best practices” are being followed

  • Identifies, analyzes, and acts to correct bottlenecks, product defect rates, safety hazards, tool, and equipment problems, Councils, motivates, and instructs Operators and/or Set Up personnel in quality standards, machine operations, and critical documentation. Provides on-the-floor training for new employees as needed and works closely with the Operators and/or Set Up employees

  • Ensures that employees adhere to schedules and customer service requirements. Works in conjunction with Quality Assurance to make sure high-quality products are produced as specified

  • Informs Department Manager of potential cause for customer concern

  • Ensures proper inventory levels are maintained to meet daily production and/or assembly needs

  • Manages department priorities

  • Performs accident investigations

  • Monitors attendance and timekeeping reports and addresses issues as needed

  • Assists Management staff; responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching and developing talent, addressing issues and resolving problems

  • Develops specifications from general description and utilizes CAD/CAM software to produce required product

  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated

  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve fabrication or assembly problems

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, and depth and angel of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media

  • Selects holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to meet production specification

  • Determines material and all tooling necessary for subsequent fabrication

  • Works directly with production and engineering to layout process required to manufacture parts and/or assemble

  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance features and adjusts machine controls or control media as required

  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications

  • May set up and operate machines on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data as required, in absence of set up staff

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Provide work direction and guidance to other workers and act as supervisor in absence of Production Supervisor

  • Perform Set Up duties in all areas of responsibility in absence of Set Up staff

  • Answer questions and train new and current employees

  • Produce a high-quality product according to required specifications on a consistent basis

  • Produce the required quantity of product according to required output specifications

  • Understand the assembly process and the movement of completed components

  • Use computers as required

  • Use precision measuring tools as required.

  • Read Blueprints

  • Be proficient in the use of CAD

  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely

  • Operate all hand tools, machines and equipment successfully as required and with minimal supervision

  • Work as a productive team member who contributes to the organizations’ success

  • Handle fast-paced work

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
