We are looking to train the right person for an entry level position. The Metal Recycling Trader/Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating the acquisition of scrap metal from various suppliers, including industrial facilities, scrap yards, manufacturers, and individuals. This role requires market knowledge, relationship management, and strong negotiation skills to ensure the best pricing and quality of materials. Sourcing & Procurement: Identify and establish relationships with suppliers of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Negotiate pricing and contract terms with sellers to secure the best value. Ensure material quality and compliance with company standards and industry regulations. Develop long-term supplier relationships to maintain a steady supply chain. Requires regional travel by car. Market Analysis & Pricing: Monitor metal market trends, prices, and demand fluctuations. Stay informed on industry developments, including local and global metal pricing. Adjust buying strategies based on market conditions. Logistics & Coordination: Coordinate with transport companies for the efficient collection and delivery of materials. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations in metal transportation. Work with the warehouse team to verify incoming shipments and quality. Sales & Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with scrap yards, manufacturers, and other stakeholders. Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to expand contacts. Maintain excellent customer service and support for both suppliers and internal teams. Qualifications & Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills. Ability to learn ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including grades and pricing structures. Ability to analyze market trends and adjust purchasing strategies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Will train on industry-related software. Understanding of environmental and regulatory compliance. Ability to work independently and travel as needed.
