State of Massachusetts Residential Supervisor II in Acton, Massachusetts

This position is located in Acton The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) would like to announce the availability of a full-time Residential Supervisor II position working in the Northeast Region for Northeast Residential Services. This position is responsible for the overall day to day management of the group home including supervision of all staff and individuals as assigned. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive)_:__ * * Incumbents are to provide direct care services to all residents assigned to a community residence and ensure that all medical and behavioral needs are met. * Incumbent must ensure compliance with residents’ annual service plans in order to maximize the individual’s health, safety and level of functioning. Implement health and safety plans and policies to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the residents and staff. * Facilitate compliance on healthcare issues including Medication Administration Program (MAP) by following the agency's Standard Operating Procedures manual. * Conduct individual profiles to assess individual needs; maintain open communication with family members and/or legal guardians and service and community providers to ensure that services needs are being met and to maintain the health and safety of the individuals served. * Maintain medical records to monitor the individual and to ensure proper documentation of medical and behavioral history. * Evaluate staff on the implementation of assigned duties and ensure ongoing compliance with training and certification requirements. * Ensure compliance with MAP policy and regulations when conducting tasks such as ordering and disposing of medications, writing Medication Occurrence Reports (MOR’s) and conducting necessary follow-ups to the MOR. * Monitor and implement the financial budget allocated for each residence to meet the resource needs of the home and the individuals served. * Ensure compliance with procedures, accurate accounting of transactions and accurate and timely reports as required. * Oversee fiscal procedures related to the program, management of resident benefits and funds, and management of expenditures related to the operation of the residence. * Maintain certification in mandatory trainings (e.g., CPR, first aid, human rights, MAP) from designated personnel to educate staff and self, to ensure continuity of care and safety and to adhere to agency policy and procedures; serve on committees to establish new trainings based on the needs of the individuals. * Participate in the interviewing and screening of new staff and ensure the indivduals served have a voice in the interview process. * May conduct regular and documented evaluations of new staff throughout the probationary period. * Coordinate the management of property (including vehicles onsite) to ensure a safe environment/structure for the residents; may perform proactive maintenance to prevent future property deficiencies. * Prepare and submit various required reports (documenting house meetings, vehicle reports, etc.) to ensure proper management of the residence and fiscal accountability. * Follow all internal controls, policies and procedures to support program integrity and minimize the risk of fraud or abuse. Key Accountabilities: Incumbents at this level have the decision-making authority to: • Arrange for services based on annual service plan. • Coordinate medical appointments, including transportation. • Delegate staff responsibilities. • Conduct all-staff meetings on a regular basis; and visit residence during 2nd and 3rd shifts. • Make recommendations regarding daily household operations and emergency situations to administration, clinicians, service providers and family/guardians as needed. • Identify scheduling needs and make recommendations regarding staff schedules. • Coordinate adequate staffing patterns to meet the changing needs of the residents. • Authorize use of leave time for residence staff, enter payroll and track overtime. • Conduct performance reviews of reporting staff. • Determine the allocation of funds and resources for the home and individuals. • Coordinate recreational activities for individuals. Relationships with Others: Key contacts and relationships for incumbents include individuals and their families and/or legal guardians; medical personnel and health care providers; residential and agency staff; community organizations; vendors; outside service providers and other state agencies. Incumbents are required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver’s license at a class level specific to assignment. Upon hire, incumbents are required to obtain and maintain Medication Administration Protocol-MAP certification and valid certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid. Incumbents may also be required to be trained and certified in such programs as Proactive Alternatives to Behavioral Challenges (PABC). MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have (A) at least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in counseling, guidance, teaching or therapeutic services for individuals with developmental disabilities, of which (B) at least two (2) years must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in social work, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human services or education of people with physical and/or learning disabilities may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience. II. A Master’s or higher degree in social work, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human services or education of people with physical and/or learning may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience.
