The role entails having knowledge of and ability to identify early colonial and federalist period masonry construction periods and techniques. Familiarity with historic mortars and their proper application. Ability to lay brick and stone to match the original time period. Design and construct fireplaces as per historical specifications. Retrofit various flues with liners to vent fireplaces and heating systems. Ability to rebuild brick and stone foundations that are structurally sound. 2 years of Masonry Restoration Specialist or related experience and a high school diploma are required.
