Overview

The Salvation Army’sBrockton Corpsis hiring aCustodianand offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

    Pay Rate: $15.75/hour

    Hours: 20 hours/week

    Assist the Corps Officer with the duties and responsibilities of maintenance to ensure safety and cleanliness of the building. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Empty trash cans daily throughout the building.

  • Vacuum and dust building, including offices, as needed.

  • Disinfect furniture and other common touch points multiple times daily throughout the building.

  • Clean and disinfect all bathrooms, which includes mopping and refilling toilet paper, soap dispensers, and paper towel dispensers.

  • Clean windows as needed.

  • Keep proper inventory of custodial supplies and inform supervisor when item (s) need to be ordered prior to running out.

  • Keep pantry and storage area swept and mopped, particularly after all deliveries have been stored.

  • Clean and maintain front and sides of building, making sure these areas are always clean.

  • Attend to specialized cleaning needs (i.e. removing gum, clearing cobwebs, and spot cleaning carpets) to ensure facility is visually appealing.

  • Assist with the cleanliness and upkeep of storage areas, thus eliminating any fire hazardous conditions.

  • Maintain vacuum cleaners in operable condition. If repairs are needed notify supervisor immediately.

  • Hang bulletin boards, pictures, etc. as requested by supervisor.

  • Assist with moving furniture and equipment, as needed.

  • Complete required 12 passenger van training and maintain all appropriate knowledge to drive and maintain this vehicle.

  • Clean vehicles inside and out

  • Operate The Salvation Army vehicle for pick-up and delivery duties, as needed.

  • Prepare sites for special events/trainings (set up and take down furniture and equipment).

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Graduate

  • One year experience on the field.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a 12-passenger cargo/transport van and pass required driving test.

  • Must be self-motivated and have a genuine interest in the cleanliness and care of the facility.

  • Must be able to perform duties independently, with minimal need of direct supervision.

  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must possess the necessary knowledge of custodial tools

  • Must observe safety standards and procedures related to custodial work.

  • Must be organized and have a high attention to detail and the ability to prioritize.

  • Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude at the workplace.

  • Ability to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and judgment.
